Amazon’s Jeff Bezos doesn’t make the cut; Google’s Sundar Pichai returns to top 3

Daily Updates

Zoom CEO Eric Yuan, HubSpot CEO Brian Halligan, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai were ranked among the top three chief executives for large companies in 2020, according to career data website Comparably.

The website ranked the best CEOs of the year in its annual list derived from employee ratings.

“This year, with COVID-19, what a lot of folks give precedent to were businesses that were able to navigate through a very challenging, once-in-a-lifetime business environment,” said Comparably CEO Jason Nazar. “The CEOs that were able to drive their businesses successfully with as little ramifications to their teams as possible stood out in the list.”

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, the richest person in the world, did not make it on the list and ranked the 41st best CEO in Comparably’s 2019 list.

The list names the top 50 chief executive officers from large companies, which have more than 500 employees, and small/midsize companies, with 500 employees or fewer.

Company employees anonymously rated their CEOs on between December 1, 2019 and December 1, 2020. Comparably garnered over 10 million ratings across 60,000 U.S. companies.

Wage gap: Top 1% saw their wages soar by 160% since 1979

COVID-19 relief package: No stimulus checks but it would add a $300 boost to federal unemployment benefits

In July, Comparably also released a list naming the top CEOs in 2020 for diversity and inclusion. The list, released amid the Black Lives Matter protest, ranked Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, RingCentral CEO Vlad Shmunis, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai among the top leaders who create inclusive work cultures.
